PDB (Palm™ Database)
The PDB is a sort of File that contains Data. Each PDB contains a Header, AppInfo (optional), SortInfo (optional) and Records. The Format of the record depends on the type of application reads and writes data to that database.
The Format of the PDB and the PRC (Palm Resource Database) is released to public and can be found at www.PalmOS.com.
Each PDB must have a unique Name. The PDB is identified by Creator and Type.
Transfer of a PDB
For each PDB which is not associated with a conduit will be a backup file created. It can be found in the backup folder of the User Folder.
The behavior of the Backup conduit is influenced by the backup flag (part of the PDB Header). The backup bit can be set with tools like Filez or Insider
The PDB's of the built-in Applications (Memopad, Address, Mail, Calendar, etc.) will not copied via the HotSync process.
Use tools like Sync Buddy former Palm Buddy (MAC OS & Windows), pilot-xfer (Linux & Windows & OS/2), Backup Buddy etc. There are some further tools available.
