A Java Desktop Application (Demo) to export the birthdaylist of the Contacts-PAdd.pdb to a HTML file.

latest change:

This is a Java Desktop Application for MAC, Windows, Linux and all Plattforms supporting Java 1.1.8 or better.
To run this software you need a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK).

You have to install a Jave Runtime Invironment like it is distributed by SUN, IBM or Apple. Up to now it has no GUI. It is a comand line driven utility. For Apple you can use Tools like JShell or JBindery to run the Application from the shell.

You want to create a list of all the birthdays from your contacts? That piece of software ist the solution.

A Desktop Application written in Java to export the internal ContactsDB-PAdd (Creator: PAdd, Type: DATA) of the Palm to a single HTML File, that can be viewed with the browser of your choice.

Deleted records will not be listed.

The input file is not the address.DAT File used by the Palm Desktop Application. If you try that file as input, there will be a Exception thrown.

There are several Tools to save the ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb to your Desktop (like pilot-link (Linux), pilot-xfer (Windows), BackupBuddy, Sync Buddy (Windows/MAC) or any tool to create a backup on the external memory card)

It will work with all PalmOS™ Versions, as long the format of the ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb has not been changed (PalmOS Version 5.0).

Syntax:

using a JDK (Java Development Environment), must be one command-line:

  • java -cp BirthdayList2HTMLDemo.jar STARTER BirthdayList2HTMLDemo ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb OutputPathWereTheFilesAreWrittenTo

If you have just installed the JRE (Java Runtime environment):

  • jre -cp BirthdayList2HTMLDemo.jar STARTER BirthdayList2HTMLDemo ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb OutputPathWereTheFilesAreWrittenTo

Be careful, the Java Runtime environment is case sensitve. The command line contains no line breaks.

This is a sample how the generated BirthdayList.html page look like.
